My Approach: Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy is a unique approach that helps people explore their problems from a new perspective. The stories we tell about ourselves and our lives have a substantial impact on the way we view and experience them. Sometimes, we adopt narratives that don’t serve us. For example, someone experiencing Depression or Anxiety may start to believe that they are “broken” or a “failure” because of the challenges they face. However, a key concept of Narrative Therapy is that the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem. No one is “broken” for having problems, and from a different perspective, you can begin to recognize your own strength and bravery in simply continuing to face them each day.

Together, we will explore the stories you tell of yourself and your problems and discover the strengths with which you can overcome them. In this way, you also define your own healing. In alignment with my approach, I believe that my clients are the experts on themselves, and that every journey is unique. Narrative Therapy is used to treat a wide range of issues and has been praised for its creativity and efficacy.

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have about the process!
